General
Q: Can I use SpringEval without an internet connection? Yes. SpringEval is offline-first. All data is stored locally on your device. You only need a connection to sync data to the cloud, download map tiles, or purchase a license. In the field, the app works completely without connectivity. Q: On which devices does SpringEval run? SpringEval runs on iPhones and iPads (iOS 16+) and Android devices (Android 10+). A tablet is recommended for extended fieldwork — the larger screen makes filling in the evaluation forms easier. Q: Is my data safe? Yes. All cloud data is stored on a secure server in Germany (Hetzner), accessible only through encrypted HTTPS connections. Photos are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket and are only accessible to you (and your team if you have an Enterprise license). MPeditech does not access your evaluation data.---
Sync and Cloud
Q: The sync badge shows pending items but nothing is syncing. Check your internet connection. If you are online and sync is still stuck after a few minutes, open Account → tap Sync Now. If specific items show a red error badge (5 failed attempts), check your network settings and try again. Persistent errors can be reported to [email protected]. Q: I signed in on a new device but my data is not appearing. After the first sign-in on a new device, the app performs a full data download. This may take a moment if you have many sites. Pull-to-refresh on the Home screen triggers the sync manually. Q: I edited the same site on two devices while offline. Which version wins? The version with the most recent edit timestamp wins when both devices sync. If your local changes are overwritten by a newer remote version, a notification is shown. To avoid conflicts, make sure to sync regularly when working from multiple devices. Q: Photos are missing on my new device. Photos are downloaded lazily — only when you navigate to the site that contains them. Open the relevant site and its sections; photos will download automatically when online.---
Licensing
Q: I purchased a license but the app still shows Guest/Starter. Make sure you purchased using the same email address registered in your SpringEval account. Open the app and trigger a manual sync (Account → Sync Now). If the problem persists after syncing, contact [email protected] with your order reference. Q: What happens to my data if my license expires? Your data is never deleted when a license expires or is downgraded. If you had 8 sites on a Professional license and it expires, all 8 sites remain accessible. You simply cannot create additional sites above the Guest limit (2) until you renew or upgrade. Q: Can I have multiple licenses on different devices? A Starter or Professional license is linked to your account, not to a specific device. You can sign in on any device and your license applies. Enterprise licenses cover all members of an organisation. Q: How do I cancel or not renew my license? Licenses are annual. Simply do not pay the next renewal invoice. Your license will expire at the end of the paid period. Data remains accessible in read/export mode.---
Data and Export
Q: The exported Excel file looks different from what I expected. The export writes data directly into the official Swiss BAFU form templates. Open the file in Excel or LibreOffice and ensure macros/calculations are enabled. The scoring formulas in the template calculate automatically. Q: Can I export both forms at once? Yes. In the Export tab, tap Export All to download a single ZIP containing both Excel forms plus the field notes bundle. Q: The photos are not included in the export. For photos to appear in the export ZIP, they must be available locally on the device you are exporting from. If you are on a new device and photos are still downloading from the cloud, wait for the sync to complete and try again.---
Account and Security
Q: I forgot my password. On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot Password?. Enter your email address; you will receive a reset link. Tap the link to set a new password, then sign in. Q: Can I change the email address on my account? Email address changes are not yet supported in-app. Contact [email protected] for manual account migration. Q: How do I delete my account? Go to Account → Delete Account. Read the confirmation screen carefully — deletion is permanent and removes all your data from the server. Enter the confirmation phrase and tap Delete. The process is immediate and cannot be undone.---
