SpringEval User Guide

Complete guide to all app features

Introduction to SpringEval

SpringEval is an app for iOS, Android and macOS that digitalises the ecological assessment of natural springs in Switzerland. It replaces manual paper-based recording and subsequent data entry into Excel spreadsheets.

Who is SpringEval for?

The app is designed for biologists, ecologists and environmental professionals who carry out spring assessments on behalf of cantons, municipalities or private clients. It digitalises the two official Swiss FOEN evaluation forms:

  • Structural evaluation: Recording of watercourse structure, surroundings, impairments and connectivity
  • Fauna evaluation: Recording of macroinvertebrates from 359 taxa with automatic ÖWS score calculation

What's new in v3.0?

SpringEval v3.0 introduces two major new features:

Cloud Sync: With an account, your data is automatically saved in the cloud and synchronised to all your devices. You can work offline in the field – as soon as you have reception, the app syncs automatically. Team Sharing (Enterprise): Organisations can invite multiple users to a shared spring pool. Ideal for firms and institutions working with several people on the same springs.
