Capturing a Photo or Video

Tap the camera FAB (the large green circle button) in the bottom navigation bar to open the Capture screen.

Taking a Photo

Choose Photo or Video with the toggle at the bottom.
Tap the shutter button (large white circle) to take the shot.
The app will immediately navigate to the Classify screen.

Recording a Video

Switch the toggle at the bottom to Video.
Tap the shutter button to start recording.
Tap again to stop.
The app navigates to the Classify screen.

Importing from the Camera Roll

On the Capture screen, tap the photo library icon (bottom-left) or the "Import from camera roll" text button.
Select an image from your library.
The app will navigate to the Classify screen with the selected image.

> Tip: You can also import multiple images, but only the first selected image is processed in a single classify flow. Repeat the import for each additional image.

GPS-Only Observation (No Photo)

If you want to log a location where you observed a taxon without taking a photo:

Go to the Taxonomy tab.
Tap the node name to open the Taxon Observations screen.
Tap Add observation (no photo) — the current timestamp and GPS position are recorded automatically.
